Ordinarily people who give at that level play in politics habitually. My team procured a list of traditional Democratic donors—these kinds of lists are publicly available—and said, “Look, these are people who give, often to several candidates. If you call them and work on them, you can get them to donate to you. They know each other too, so it’s how you start building a network of donors.”
